Becoming an “Employer of Choice”…The key to reducing staff turnover
Our jobs determine to a large extent what our lives will be like"
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
There are two key elements in becoming an “employer of choice” and reducing your staff turnover.
1. Provide an organisational environment where people can become “self motivated”
2. Provide an organisational environment where feel absorbed and happy in their work…where they can experience the “flow” state.
How Do We Create an Environment Which Will Reduce Staff Turnover?
In order to reduce staff turnover you need to create an environment where people can be “self motivated” we need to understand what really motivates people.
Too often we implement staff reward schemes which we hope will motivate our staff simply by “rewarding” them…often with financial benefits only. Yet we know from many empirical studies that financial reward is often the least motivating reward mechanism, whereas “Recognition”, recognition for a job well done is considered as one of the most motivating reward mechanisms.
Equally we know that if someone is happy in their work, they are likely to be much more content…and much more productive. We know from personal experience that we feel good about ourselves after a job well done, and of course feeling good about ourselves raises our self esteem, a key ingredient in self motivation and reducing staff turnover.
The Flow theory says that there is one other key ingredient in motivating a person, and that is the person must feel that his or her “talents” are fully employed. If a person’s talents are under utilised and not matched to the challenge of the role, he will feel bored and apathetic, whereas if a person’s talents are being over stretched and pushed beyond his capabilities, he will feel worried and anxious.
This matching of talent and task difficulty is one of the key ingredients for creating a “Flow” state and is explained fully in the Peak Performance programme.
The Peak Performance Programme for Reducing Staff Turnover.
The Peak Performance programme provides the knowledge and the tools necessary to reduce staff turnover and ensure that your staff are self motivated, happy productive employees, all of whom consider your organisation to be an “Employer of Choice”
The programme is delivered in two distinct sections, and can be delivered to management only, or our recommended option, to all people within your organisation.
Section 1 gives people the knowledge and understanding of the many elements that combine to create their current thinking, mood, personality, behavioural style and ultimately their performance. The programme utilises the latest scientific and psychological research and delivers its teachings in a clear concise and easily understood style.
At the end of this section delegates will feel empowered and prepared to take responsibility for their own actions and performance, having the knowledge of why this is the only true sustainable way of becoming self motivated.
Section 2 builds on this knowledge and teaches specific tools and techniques to help create new thinking, new behaviour and improved performance. In particular this section of the programme focuses on motivation techniques, organisational “flow”, communication techniques, goal setting, teamwork and natural leadership styles.
At the end of this section delegates will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to change their behaviour and improve their performance…not only in their current organisational environment, but in every aspect of their personal and professional lives.
