Goal Setting:

Improving Communications

“You asked us all to sum up the impact at the end of the course, and I said it was like somebody opening a door for me, and showing me how I could actually change the way I thought, how I reacted and how I communicated with people. And that’s exactly what I did. After the course I basically set out to do two things:
1. To actually pause for five seconds before I react to a situation, to look at things as positively as I could.
2. To adopt a more positive and supportive attitude to family and colleagues
These were my two things I did as a result of the course. It’s easier now than it was at first, because I had never done these things before. I think about these two things every time I have a conversation, whether it is a board meeting, business meeting, or more importantly a conversation with my family.”


Happiness

One of the things I was confused with at first with “Peak Performance” was I thought I would learn to be 100% happy if I encapsulated all the “Peak Performance” principles. It isn’t quite like that. Peak Performance gave me the know how to change my thinking and make sure I don’t become unhappy or depressed. Sometimes you have to feel disappointment so that you can analyse it and make sure you don’t feel it again. When I look at people like Richard Branson they’re not happy all the time, but they have a positive philosophy that enables them to deal with disappointment, deal with failure, and enables them to deal with areas they don’t like by doing something about it. And so in the end, it’s as simple as that…if you are not happy about something…do something about it.”
